Why People Aren’t Engaging with Your Posts and How to Fix It

You can be a highly skilled professional and write genuinely useful content, but that alone isn’t enough to get people to read it, share it, comment on it, or take the action you want them to take.

In this article, I’ll show you step by step how to structure a post so that it captures attention and encourages readers to engage. I’ll also wrap everything up in a short checklist you can use to quickly review your text before every publication.

It was Tuesday. Around ten in the morning. Sophia’s office was quiet. A cup of coffee sat on the desk, a notebook beside it. Outside, rain fell steadily — the kind of rain that usually invites conversations about the meaning of life.

Sophia sat in her chair reading Ethics by Spinoza when her assistant informed her that the new patient was running a little late. She took a sip of coffee and highlighted a line with a colored marker: “People tend to believe that everything in nature was created for their sake.”

A knock. The door opened.
“Good morning. Sorry I’m late,” the stranger said.
“Good morning. Please, come in.”
The man sat down in the chair across from her.
“How should I address you?” Sophia asked.
He paused for a moment, then said,
“You can just call me… God.”
Sophia nodded. In years of practice, she had heard all kinds of things.
“All right,” she said. “Tell me what brought you here.”
“People,” God sighed.
